First Newsletter!

Paul Skidmore here, producer of JOHN GRAY. Thank you for signing up for the JOHN GRAY newsletter. We will keep you up to date on the latest happening with the short film and our entry into the Doorpost Film Festival.

I want to start by saying a huge THANK YOU to those who have donated to our project. We’ve received just under $1000 in donations. With that, we’ve gotten a LOT of great production design stuff (props, furniture, wardrobe) and some lenses for our camera system that we’ll be using. We are very excited about our first day of the two-day shoot coming up THIS FRIDAY! Again, a big thank you to everyone who has given.

We have a big chunk of money left over. We still need to pay for food, a U-Haul (to move some set pieces that we are borrowing at no cost), and insurance, and we could always use more equipment (lighting, camera dolly, power distribution, etc.). Additionally, much of the contest score of the film is based on viewer voting online, so we’d like to be able to promote the film after production has wrapped.

However, the leftover chunk is not quite large enough to cover ALL of these; we’re just a couple of hundred dollars short of the “necessaries.” We’ve secured as much free stuff as we can: free equipment from three sources, free location (pictures below), free set pieces from Theatre Memphis, and we’re still working on free food. Anything we get above the necessaries will go toward renting some much-needed additional equipment and power distribution, additional insurance, and/or promotions.

If you haven’t yet donated, please know that even $5 and $10 here and there really do help. If twenty people gave us $10, we’d be covered completely for the necessaries. If you are not able to donate at this time, we certainly understand; the key team members all wish we had more of our own funds to put into the budget as well, but times are tight for everyone. More than the monetary support, the JOHN GRAY team appreciates your prayers and encouragement as we pursue the good works that God planned in advance for us to do (Ephesians 2:10).
